TOP 3 CALIFORNIA NATIVE PLANTS FOR GROUNDCOVER

In designing landscapes and choosing plants for the landscape it is often nice to have plants of varying heights.  This adds interest to the garden and give you more room to visually play with the space.  Typically the taller (medium growing) plants go in the back, followed by low growing plants and groundcovers.  These groundcovers can be purely decorative or a variety that can tolerate foot traffic.  All of these three plants are great if you want something in your garden that gets 1'-2' high. The second plant (Carex) is also great for foot traffic.

These 3 groundcovers in this video are:

  • Arctostaphylos 'Emerald Carpet' - Emerald Carpet Manzanita
  • Carex pansa - Meadow Sedge
  • Erigeron 'Arthur Menzies' - Arthur Menzies Seaside Daisy
This continues a series of 10 videos about California native plants.  Each video will feature a situation that is commonly dealt with in residential landscapes.
